The New Colossus

Not the formidable golden automaton of Greek myths
A towering body reaches across the nations
Here at the horizon, of gates of bastions
A titan of a woman with a torch that shines
The encased sparks, and her name that's also yours and mines.
Lady of the Lost, from her warning open palm,
Shows global welcome, her eyes of calm.
The wind-swept seashore twin cities frame
"Keep your timeless lands, your glorified tales" is her decree.
With silent lips "Give me your withered, your paltry.
Your people struggling to be rid of the musky atmosphere.
The penny-stricken denounce the ocean air.
Send to me the repulsive, the confused and dazed.
Beside my golden facade, my lamp will be raised.
