I personally do not believe that the poem created by Emma Cazurus reflects the way Americans think today because of how we treat immigration. The idea of immigration today and back then are completely different, as we have created new laws and boundaries to keep immigrants out of the country, whether it be because of disease, the lack of money, or because of anything else. We do not exactly "welcome" new citizens unless they pass tests that are given to them by the government, so as of today, we do not always invite everyone with open arms.
