I don't think that this poem reflects how Americans think today about the immigration stuff. I don't think that we invite everyone with open arms here in America. There's like these laws that keep immigrants out or keep them from actually becoming a citizen. Trying to keep them out because they were taking jobs or something, I just personally think that this poem is sooo far from connecting with immigration today.
P.S. Sorry this is late Cummins. I went to my friend's funeral on Friday and I totally forgot about this assignment. It's been a hard weekend.. I hope I don't get a lot of points taken off for being two days late.
