Do we still believe in the Colossus poem?

I do not believe that as a country we currently represent the meaning of this poem. now immigration is a very long process and the usa does not take in everybody. those who are not citizens are found and kicked out of the country. there has been harsher and more laws enforced regarding immigration. people are not as openly welcome into our country and even the borders are being more closely monitored and protected. population is increasing meaning it is becoming more difficult for people to come in.
