Does the USA still open their arms to immigrants as described in Colossus?

As a whole, I do not believe the current United States welcomes immigrants and appreciates their input in our society (whether it be votes, labor, technology, ideas, etc.). Our country is split between pro- and anti-immigration. Some say that the U.S. is overcrowded and that immigrants are stealing jobs from "Americans". Others say immigrants provide a better environment for cultural, intellectual, and technological development. Unfortunately, it is the anti-immigration image that is projected more prominently.
